DAVAO CITY – The City Government of Davao’s Project Monitoring Committee (PMC) recently conducted a site visit to assess the progress of the Bucana Bridge Project, a vital infrastructure development aimed at improving the city’s transportation network.

The Bucana Bridge, a 1.34-kilometer, four-lane extradosed bridge with a total cost of P3.126 billion, has reached a 73.13% completion rate. The construction is currently focused on the superstructure, and the project remains on track for completion by the third quarter of 2025.
Once completed, the bridge will seamlessly connect segments of the Davao City Coastal Road that are currently separated by the Davao River, extending access up to R. Castillo. It is expected to accommodate approximately 35,000 vehicles daily, significantly easing traffic congestion in the area.
The project is being implemented through a China Aid Grant with additional support from the Philippine Government. Officials anticipate that the bridge will not only improve mobility but also contribute to the economic growth of the city by enhancing connectivity and transportation efficiency.
With continued monitoring and steady progress, the Bucana Bridge is set to become a crucial link in Davao City’s road network, benefitting both residents and businesses alike.
