LEBAK, Sultan Kudarat — A 20-year-old female student was injured after two unidentified gunmen fired at her while she was on her way home in Purok Kape 1, Barangay Salaman, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, shortly after midnight on September 8, 2026.

Based on the initial report, the victim was traveling with a friend aboard a vehicle after coming from a school-related event when they were reportedly approached by two unidentified suspects riding a black motorcycle.

Authorities said there was no reported provocation, argument, or confrontation immediately before the shooting. The suspects allegedly fired three shots, one of which struck the victim in her right thigh.

The victim was immediately brought to a medical facility for treatment. She is reportedly recovering while receiving medical attention for the gunshot wound.

Initial information indicated that the victim had attended an event at a school in Lebak, where she was reportedly serving as one of the event’s judges. She and her companion were subsequently traveling toward Kalamansig when the shooting occurred.

The suspects reportedly fled from the area aboard the motorcycle following the attack.

Police immediately launched a hot-pursuit operation and coordinated with neighboring police stations in an effort to locate and possibly apprehend the fleeing suspects.

As of the latest information available, authorities have yet to establish the identities of the two gunmen and determine the motive behind the shooting.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview possible witnesses as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities are also expected to examine possible leads, including the route taken by the victim and her companion, descriptions of the motorcycle and suspects, and any available information that could help identify those responsible.
