Three Communist Terrorist Group Members Surrender to Government in South Cotabato

Surallah, South Cotabato — Three members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to government authorities on November 12, 2024, at the 2nd South Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company headquarters in Sitio Sto. Nino, Barangay Centrala, Surallah, South Cotabato.

According to Police Major Roel Vergel Parreno, Force Commander of the 2nd South Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company, the former CTG members, known by their aliases “Domingo,” 49; “Pen-Pen,” 34; and “Brigol,” 55, are all residents of South Cotabato Province and were previously affiliated with the Guerilla Front Musa of the Far Southern Mindanao Region.

As part of their surrender, the former rebels also handed over their weapons, including a homemade grenade launcher with ammunition, a homemade single-shot .20-gauge firearm with one round, and a rifle grenade.

PMaj Parreno expressed his gratitude to the former rebels for choosing to align with the government instead of continuing their armed struggle under the misleading ideologies promoted by leftist groups. He emphasized that their decision is a significant step toward promoting peace and stability in South Cotabato.

This development is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to encourage rebels to abandon their armed campaigns and reintegrate into society peacefully.
