San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur – A former member of a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to the government on January 2, 2025, at Purok Meliton, Barangay Poblacion, San Miguel.
Police Major Marlon C. Manga-Nay, Officer-In-Charge of the 2nd Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, identified the individual as “Jino,” a 27-year-old male and resident of Purok 1, Barangay Concepcion, San Miguel.
Jino was formerly affiliated with the Hingpit Nga Organisadong Masa/Revolutionary Committee (HOM/BRC) under Guerilla Front KARA. He was also a member of the Salabukan G’taw Subanen, a CTG-affected mass organization (CAMO) for Indigenous Peoples, under the UGMO Revolutionary Organization of the Lumad Regional Urban Committee, Western Mindanao Party Regional Command (WMPRC).
The successful reintegration was achieved through the efforts of the 2nd Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, in collaboration with the San Miguel Municipal Police Station, San Pablo Municipal Police Station, Dinas Municipal Police Station, Dimataling Municipal Police Station, Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Intelligence Unit, Regional Intelligence Division 9, Zamboanga del Sur Police Intelligence Task Group, and the 902nd Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9.
This surrender aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s campaign to end insurgency in the country. Under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), the government continues to encourage remaining members and supporters of CTGs to return to mainstream society. The program offers assistance and opportunities for former rebels to start anew and contribute to building a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines).
Authorities have reiterated their call for unity and peace, urging others involved in such groups to take advantage of the reintegration programs and join the nation’s pursuit of lasting progress.
