MINDANAO — August 30, 2026 — Most parts of Mindanao are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and localized thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its Regional Weather Forecast for the Mindanao PAGASA Regional Services Division (MINPRSD), issued at 5:00 a.m. on August 30, the weather agency said the forecast is valid from 5:00 a.m. today until 5:00 a.m. on August 31.
PAGASA cautioned that flash floods and landslides are possible in areas affected by severe thunderstorms, particularly where heavy rain may fall over a short period.
The agency forecast light to moderate winds from the south to southwest across the region. Coastal waters in areas covered by the forecast are expected to remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
The prevailing conditions mean that generally fair periods may alternate with sudden rainshowers or thunderstorms, making weather conditions potentially changeable throughout the day.
Western Mindanao
In Zamboanga City, partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected. Temperatures are forecast to range from 24°C to 32°C, while conditions could reach 25°C to 35°C during the succeeding forecast period.
The same weather pattern is expected in Zamboanga del Norte, where temperatures may range from 25°C to 32°C, rising to as high as 35°C.
Zamboanga del Sur is forecast to experience temperatures of 24°C to 31°C, while the succeeding period could see temperatures between 24°C and 32°C.
In Zamboanga Sibugay, temperatures are expected to range from 26°C to 32°C, increasing to as high as 34°C in the following period.
Isabela City could see temperatures between 24°C and 34°C, with the succeeding period reaching as high as 36°C, among the warmer conditions forecast in the region.
Northern Mindanao
For Bukidnon, PAGASA forecast partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms and temperatures ranging from 21°C to 30°C, increasing slightly to 21°C to 31°C in the next period.
Camiguin may experience temperatures of 26°C to 32°C, rising to 34°C, while Lanao del Norte is expected to range from 25°C to 31°C, with temperatures reaching up to 33°C.
In Misamis Occidental, temperatures are forecast at 24°C to 32°C, rising to 25°C to 35°C during the succeeding period.
Misamis Oriental could experience temperatures from 25°C to 33°C, with the next period reaching as high as 36°C.
Despite the generally moderate wind conditions, coastal areas in the provinces with marine forecasts are expected to have slight to moderate seas.
Davao Region
Across the Davao Region, the same risk of isolated rainshowers and localized thunderstorms remains.
Metro Davao is forecast to have temperatures ranging from 26°C to 32°C, increasing to as high as 34°C.
Davao del Norte may experience temperatures of 24°C to 31°C, with highs of 33°C in the succeeding period.
In Davao del Sur, temperatures are expected to range from 23°C to 30°C, while the next forecast period could reach 31°C.
Davao Oriental is forecast to experience 24°C to 31°C, with temperatures rising to as high as 32°C.
The separate forecast issued the previous afternoon also indicated similar conditions in Davao de Oro and Davao Occidental, with both areas expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, rainshowers or thunderstorms, and south-to-southwest winds.
SOCCSKSARGEN
In North Cotabato, temperatures are forecast to range from 23°C to 32°C, increasing to as high as 34°C.
South Cotabato is expected to experience temperatures of 21°C to 31°C, with highs of 32°C in the following period.
For Sultan Kudarat, temperatures may range from 22°C to 32°C, increasing to 34°C.
Sarangani is forecast to have temperatures between 24°C and 31°C, with the succeeding period reaching up to 33°C.
PAGASA also warned that coastal areas covered by marine forecasts could experience slight to moderate seas, requiring caution from small fishing boats and other vessels, particularly during thunderstorms.
Caraga
The Caraga Region will likewise remain under a generally partly cloudy to cloudy weather pattern with possible rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Agusan del Norte is forecast to experience temperatures of 26°C to 33°C, rising to as high as 35°C.
In Agusan del Sur, temperatures may range from 25°C to 33°C, with highs of 35°C in the succeeding period.
Surigao del Norte could see temperatures of 26°C to 33°C, increasing to 35°C, while Surigao del Sur is forecast to range from 25°C to 33°C, with temperatures potentially reaching 36°C.
The Dinagat Islands may experience some of the warmest conditions in Caraga, with temperatures ranging from 27°C to 34°C and rising to as high as 36°C.
BARMM
In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Cotabato City is expected to experience temperatures between 23°C and 31°C, increasing to 33°C.
Basilan is forecast to range from 24°C to 32°C, with highs of 34°C.
In Lanao del Sur, temperatures may range from 23°C to 30°C, increasing to as high as 32°C.
The earlier afternoon forecast also placed Sulu and Tawi-Tawi under the same partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Both provinces were forecast to experience temperatures of 26°C to 32°C, increasing to 34°C in the succeeding period.
Maguindanao del Norte may experience temperatures of 25°C to 32°C, with highs of 34°C, while Maguindanao del Sur is forecast to range from 25°C to 32°C, increasing to 34°C.
Public urged to remain alert
PAGASA’s warning about possible flash floods and landslides is particularly important in communities located near rivers, waterways, steep slopes and other areas vulnerable to flooding or rain-induced landslides.
Residents and motorists are advised to remain alert for sudden changes in weather, especially when thunderstorms develop. Local disaster risk reduction and management offices are also expected to monitor conditions and issue localized advisories when necessary.
Fisherfolk and operators of small boats are likewise advised to exercise caution as coastal waters remain slight to moderate and thunderstorms may develop in coastal areas.
PAGASA emphasized that the forecast covers a 24-hour period and conditions may change, particularly as localized thunderstorms develop.
