MINDANAO — Most parts of Mindanao are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or localized thunderstorms from Friday morning, August 14, through Saturday morning, August 15, according to the latest regional weather forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD).
The forecast was issued at 5:00 a.m. on August 14, 2026, and is valid from 5:00 a.m. Friday until 5:00 a.m. Saturday.
PAGASA warned that flash floods and landslides are possible in areas affected by severe thunderstorms, prompting residents, motorists, commuters and communities in vulnerable locations to remain alert, particularly during periods of intense rainfall.
The weather agency said winds across Mindanao will generally be light to moderate from the south to southwest, while coastal waters will generally be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.
Zamboanga Peninsula
Zamboanga City and the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay, as well as Isabela City, are forecast to have partly cloudy skies becoming cloudy at times, with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Winds will be light to moderate from the south to southwest, with slight to moderate coastal conditions.
For Friday, temperatures in these areas are generally expected to range from 24°C to 31°C. On Saturday, temperatures may reach as high as 35°C, depending on the locality.
Zamboanga del Norte and Isabela City could reach 35°C, while Zamboanga City and Zamboanga Sibugay could reach 34°C. Zamboanga del Sur may reach 33°C.
Northern Mindanao
Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental and Misamis Oriental are likewise expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Bukidnon is forecast to have temperatures of 21°C to 29°C on Friday, rising to as high as 31°C on Saturday.
Camiguin will have a comparatively rougher coastal outlook, with moderate to strong winds from the south to southwest and moderate to rough seas. Temperatures may range from 25°C to 31°C on Friday and 27°C to 35°C on Saturday.
Lanao del Norte is forecast to reach 31°C on Friday and as high as 35°C on Saturday, while Misamis Occidental may reach 35°C and Misamis Oriental up to 34°C on Saturday.
Davao Region
Metro Davao and the provinces of Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur and Davao Oriental are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Davao del Sur could record temperatures between 25°C and 32°C on Friday, increasing to as high as 33°C on Saturday.
Metro Davao, Davao del Norte and Davao Oriental may experience temperatures reaching 33°C during the latter part of the forecast period.
Davao de Oro is expected to have temperatures between 23°C and 31°C on Friday and could reach 36°C on Saturday.
Davao Occidental is forecast to remain comparatively cooler, with temperatures of 25°C to 29°C on Friday and 25°C to 31°C on Saturday.
Coastal conditions across the Davao Region are generally expected to remain slight to moderate, with winds predominantly coming from the south to southwest.
SOCCSKSARGEN
North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with rainshowers or thunderstorms possible.
North Cotabato is forecast to have temperatures between 23°C and 32°C on Friday, with temperatures reaching up to 35°C on Saturday.
South Cotabato may experience temperatures of 24°C to 31°C on Friday and up to 33°C on Saturday.
Sultan Kudarat is expected to reach 35°C on Saturday, while Sarangani may reach 32°C.
The four areas are expected to have light to moderate winds from the south to southwest. Coastal waters in South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani are forecast to remain slight to moderate.
Caraga Region
The provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands are likewise expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Agusan del Norte may reach 36°C on Saturday, while Agusan del Sur could reach 34°C.
Surigao del Norte is also forecast to reach 36°C, while Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands may reach 35°C.
Temperatures during the Friday period are generally expected to remain between 24°C and 32°C, depending on the area.
Coastal waters across the Caraga provinces are forecast to be slight to moderate, with light to moderate winds from the south to southwest.
BARMM Areas
Cotabato City and the provinces and areas of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao covered by the forecast—including Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur—are also expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Cotabato City may reach 34°C on Saturday, while Maguindanao del Norte could also reach 34°C.
Maguindanao del Sur is forecast to reach as high as 35°C, while Basilan could reach 35°C.
Sulu is expected to reach 32°C, Tawi-Tawi 33°C, and Lanao del Sur 32°C.
Winds across these areas will generally be light to moderate from the south to southwest, with slight to moderate coastal conditions where applicable.
Residents urged to remain alert
While the forecast does not indicate continuous widespread rainfall across Mindanao, the possibility of localized thunderstorms means weather conditions may change rapidly in affected communities.
PAGASA’s warning regarding possible flash floods and landslides is particularly important for communities located near rivers, creeks, steep slopes, low-lying areas and other locations historically vulnerable to flooding or slope failures.
Residents are advised to monitor developments from PAGASA and local disaster risk reduction and management offices, especially when thunderstorms develop over their areas.
Motorists and commuters should also exercise caution during heavy downpours, when reduced visibility, slippery roads and sudden flooding can make travel hazardous.
For coastal communities, fishermen and small-craft operators, the forecast of slight to moderate seas generally indicates manageable but changing conditions, while Camiguin faces moderate to rough seas and moderate to strong winds, requiring greater caution from those operating in its waters.
