DAVAO CITY — A major anti-illegal drug operation spearheaded by Police Station 1 (Sta. Ana) resulted in the arrest of suspected drug peddlers and the seizure of more than ₱201,000 worth of suspected shabu and an illegally possessed firearm, highlighting the Davao City Police Office’s continuing campaign against illegal drugs and criminality.

The operation was conducted at around 3:05 p.m. on July 8, 2026, under the leadership of Police Major Marc Hedssel M. Culaste, Acting Station Commander of Police Station 1. Authorities described the operation as a high-impact law enforcement initiative that led to the swift apprehension of the suspects and the confiscation of evidence believed to be linked to illegal drug activities.

Recovered during the operation were approximately ₱201,280 worth of suspected shabu, a dangerous drug prohibited under Philippine law, as well as a .357-caliber revolver, further raising concerns over the nexus between illegal drugs and firearms in criminal operations.

Police have yet to release the identities of the arrested individuals pending the filing of appropriate charges. The seized drug evidence and firearm are expected to undergo standard documentation and forensic examination as part of the case build-up.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director Police Colonel Peter Bauzon Madria lauded the personnel of Police Station 1 for what he described as an exemplary accomplishment in the city’s intensified anti-drug campaign.

Madria said the successful operation reflected the operational competence, dedication, and professionalism of the Sta. Ana police officers in carrying out their mandate to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs and maintain public safety.

He also emphasized that the accomplishment was made possible through close coordination among law enforcement agencies, barangay officials, the Local Government of Davao City, and vigilant members of the community who continue to provide valuable information to authorities.

The police official reiterated that community participation remains a vital component in sustaining the government’s anti-criminality efforts, stressing that public cooperation significantly strengthens law enforcement’s ability to detect and dismantle illegal drug networks.

Authorities assured the public that the Davao City Police Office will continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations targeting drug trafficking and other forms of criminality across the city, as part of its commitment to keeping communities safe and free from illegal drugs.

The arrested suspects are expected to face charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act No. 9165), while additional charges related to the confiscated firearm may also be filed, depending on the results of the ongoing investigation.
