DAVAO CITY — A High-Value Individual (HVI) was arrested while suspected shabu valued at approximately ₱255,680 was confiscated during a successful anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) in Barangay Communal, Davao City, in the early hours of June 10, 2026.

The operation, carried out at around 2:01 a.m. along Purok 12, Bypass Road near Laverna Bridge, was led by personnel of Police Station 5–Buhangin under the supervision of PCPT Narciso N. Potot Jr., Officer-in-Charge. The operation resulted in the apprehension of an identified High-Value Individual and the seizure of suspected shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱255,680.00.

The successful operation forms part of the intensified anti-illegal drug campaign of the Davao City Police Office, spearheaded by PCOL Peter Bauzon Madria, City Director, who continues to prioritize the suppression of illegal drug activities throughout the city.

Authorities emphasized that the persistent threat posed by illegal drugs extends beyond criminality, affecting public safety, destroying families, endangering the youth, and hindering the social and economic development of communities.

PCOL Madria commended the personnel of Police Station 5–Buhangin for their dedication and operational effectiveness, noting that the accomplishment reflects the DCPO’s unwavering commitment to dismantling illegal drug networks and removing drug offenders from the streets.

The police chief also highlighted the crucial role of collaboration among law enforcement agencies, barangay officials, local government units, and community members in the fight against illegal drugs. According to the DCPO, such partnerships have significantly contributed to the success of anti-drug operations and the protection of neighborhoods from drug-related crimes.

Authorities stressed that the campaign against illegal drugs goes beyond law enforcement efforts. It is also aimed at preserving lives, protecting future generations, strengthening family values, and fostering peace and sustainable development across communities.

“The fight against illegal drugs is a collective mission,” the DCPO said, emphasizing that every successful operation brings authorities one step closer to creating safer communities free from the influence of narcotics and the violence often associated with the illegal drug trade.

The DCPO also called on Dabawenyos to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with authorities by reporting suspicious activities and supporting ongoing anti-drug initiatives.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officials issued a renewed warning to individuals still engaged in the illegal drug trade, urging them to abandon unlawful activities and embrace opportunities for rehabilitation, responsibility, and productive citizenship.

The arrested suspect and the confiscated evidence were placed under police custody for proper documentation and the filing of appropriate charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The latest accomplishment underscores the DCPO’s sustained efforts to maintain Davao City’s reputation as one of the country’s safest urban centers through relentless law enforcement operations and strong community engagement in the fight against illegal drugs.
