A Low Pressure Area (LPA), formerly identified as “Caloy,” continues to influence weather conditions across Mindanao, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and localized thunderstorms in several provinces, according to the latest regional forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA.

The weather bureau’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) said the LPA was estimated at around 995 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon as of 3 p.m. Thursday, located at 15.1° North latitude and 130.9° East longitude.
Despite the weather disturbance remaining far from Mindanao, forecasters warned that localized thunderstorms may still trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas vulnerable to sudden heavy rainfall.
PAGASA said most parts of Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds coming from the south to southwest, while coastal waters across the island will remain slight to moderate with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters.
Areas under the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, are expected to experience intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 35°C.
In Northern Mindanao, provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental will also continue to experience unstable weather conditions caused by isolated thunderstorms. Temperature levels in the region are forecast to range between 21°C and 34°C.
Meanwhile, the Davao Region, including Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, is expected to have generally fair mornings followed by possible afternoon or evening thunderstorms. Temperatures in the region may reach as high as 34°C.
The weather system is also affecting provinces under SOCCSKSARGEN, including South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and Cotabato, where cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the forecast period. Forecast temperatures in the region range from 22°C to 35°C.
In the Caraga Region, provinces such as Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands are likewise expected to experience scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 35°C.
Under the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao or BARMM, weather conditions remain generally similar across Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, where localized thunderstorms may develop and bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains.
PAGASA advised residents, particularly those living near rivers, mountain slopes, and flood-prone communities, to remain alert for possible flooding and landslides during severe thunderstorms. Fisherfolk and small sea vessels were also advised to exercise caution due to moderate sea conditions in coastal waters across Mindanao.
The weather forecast remains valid from 5 a.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday, while updated regional advisories may be issued should the LPA intensify or move closer to the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
