DAVAO CITY — Authorities intercepted more than ₱3 million worth of suspected shabu at a joint checkpoint operation conducted by Task Force Davao and local police on Saturday, October 5, 2025, in Barangay Sirawan, Toril District.
The suspect, identified as “alias Jade,” a 31-year-old resident of Magsaysay, Carmen, Davao del Norte, was arrested after attempting to pass through the Task Force Davao Border Checkpoint aboard a passenger bus.
According to police reports, the suspect was about to place his bag in the X-ray screening machine when one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu fell to the floor. The man appeared visibly nervous, prompting authorities to inspect him further.
Upon verification, officers discovered additional sachets of suspected shabu—twelve (12) in total—concealed around his waist under his sweater. The estimated street value of the confiscated illegal drugs is over ₱3 million.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Toril Police Station, while documentation is being prepared for the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities lauded the successful interception as a major blow to illegal drug operations in the region. Task Force Davao and the Davao City Police Office reaffirmed their commitment to intensify anti-drug operations and strengthen border security to prevent the entry and transport of illegal substances into the city.
“This operation underscores our relentless campaign against illegal drugs and our dedication to keeping Davao City safe,” police officials said.
