DAVAO CITY — A 44-year-old company manager from Bukidnon was arrested after authorities discovered suspected shabu concealed inside a pair of shoes during a joint AFP-PNP checkpoint operation in Calinan District, Davao City on Monday morning, June 1, 2026.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Allan,” is married and a resident of Valencia City, Bukidnon.
According to a report from the Calinan Police Station, the suspect was driving his white Honda Brio when he passed through a joint checkpoint manned by personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Purok 2, Barangay Lacson, shortly after 9:00 a.m.
During a routine plain view inspection of the vehicle, authorities noticed suspicious items inside the car, prompting them to conduct a more thorough inspection.
Operatives later recovered four large heat-sealed plastic sachets containing crystalline substances believed to be shabu. Investigators said the illegal drugs were hidden inside a pair of shoes placed on the floor mat behind the passenger seat in an apparent attempt to avoid detection.
Authorities estimated the seized suspected shabu to have a standard drug price of ₱131,920.00.
The suspect was immediately taken into police custody for proper documentation and investigation. He is now detained and is set to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police authorities continue to investigate the source and intended destination of the confiscated illegal drugs as intensified anti-drug and security checkpoint operations remain in place across Davao City.
