Davao City, Philippines — Authorities apprehended two men early Saturday morning, January 20, after they were stopped at a joint checkpoint manned by Task Force Davao and local police in Sirawan, Toril.

The suspects, aboard a Suzuki sedan, were intercepted during routine inspections as they entered the city around 2 a.m. Upon checking the vehicle, personnel discovered a suspected sachet of shabu on the car mat. Further inspection of the glove box compartment revealed additional sachets of the illegal substance.

The driver, identified only as alias “Invin,” 45, a resident of Catalunan Grande, and his passenger, alias “Topher,” 42, from Ecoland, were immediately taken into custody. The confiscated substances, suspected to be shabu, have an estimated street value of PHP 818,720.

The suspects are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to determine the source and intended distribution of the illegal drugs.

Local officials reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal drug activities, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to authorities.
