DAVAO CITY — A suspected drug personality was arrested after authorities recovered suspected shabu worth an estimated P510,000 during a routine inspection at a fixed checkpoint in Licanan, Lasang, Davao City early Wednesday morning, September 16, 2026.
The operation was carried out by personnel of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Police Station 6 – Bunawan, led by Police Major Janus Lumbaya Macli-ing, in coordination with personnel of the 1st City Mobile Force Company (1st CMFC) and Task Force Davao.
According to the DCPO, the arrest took place at about 5:10 a.m. after the subject was subjected to a routine inspection upon entering a fixed checkpoint jointly established by the DCPO, through Police Station 6, and Task Force Davao in Licanan.
During the inspection, authorities reportedly spotted prohibited drugs in plain view. The discovery prompted the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of the suspected illegal drugs.
Police estimated the seized substance to have a standard drug price of P510,000. The substance was identified by authorities as suspected shabu, although its final identity and evidentiary findings remain subject to the appropriate examination and documentation procedures.
The DCPO commended the personnel involved in the operation, particularly the members of Police Station 6, the 1st CMFC and Task Force Davao, for their coordinated efforts that led to the apprehension.
DCPO City Director Police Colonel Peter Bauzon Madria said the police office remains committed to strengthening its campaign against illegal drugs and sustaining law-enforcement operations aimed at preventing the movement of prohibited substances within Davao City.
The police also appealed to residents to continue supporting law enforcement by providing information and cooperating with legitimate police operations.
The latest checkpoint operation underscores the role of coordinated police and security presence in intercepting suspected illegal drugs before they can reach communities.
Authorities said the DCPO will continue intensifying its anti-illegal drug operations as part of efforts to maintain a safe and drug-free Davao City.
