Mindanao — September 18, 2025. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is closely monitoring two tropical depressions, even as Mindanao braces for partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms that may bring flash floods or landslides.

As of 3:00 a.m. today, Tropical Depression “Mirasol” was spotted 145 kilometers west-southwest of Calayan, Cagayan (19.0°N, 120.1°E), packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 70 kph. It is moving west-northwestward at 10 kph.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression “Nando” was located 1,225 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon (14.9°N, 134.3°E). It carries the same strength, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness of 70 kph, and is moving north-northwestward at 15 kph.

Although the two weather disturbances are far from Mindanao, their presence is expected to enhance localized thunderstorms across the island. PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides, particularly in areas experiencing severe thunderstorms.
