Davao City — A 44-year-old woman was arrested in a buy-bust operation under the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s (CIDG) “Oplan Megashopper” on the evening of July 2, 2025, for violating Republic Act 10643 or the Graphic Health Warnings Law on tobacco products.
The suspect, identified only as “Ronah,” a resident of Barangay Ilang, was caught in the act of selling illicit cigarettes in Minterbrow, Jimlani Compound, Barangay Ilang, Davao City, past 7:00 p.m.
Authorities confiscated 20 master cases of two premium cigarette brands along with marked buy-bust money from the undercover operative posing as a buyer.
Also seized during the operation was a white Suzuki Transformer Minivan allegedly used in transporting the contraband. The estimated value of the recovered cigarettes amounted to ₱660,000.
Ronah is now in police custody while charges are being prepared for violation of RA 10643, which mandates the use of graphic health warnings on all tobacco product packages sold in the Philippines.
