DAVAO CITY — Residents across Mindanao should remain on alert for isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of possible flash floods and landslides, particularly during severe thunderstorms.
According to the Regional Weather Forecast for Mindanao (MINPRSD) issued at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect portions of western and northern Mindanao, while localized thunderstorms are expected to bring scattered rains over the rest of the island.
PAGASA said Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and Lanao del Norte will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao, including Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Caraga Region, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
Weather forecasters warned that while rainfall may be isolated, thunderstorms could become severe and trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying communities, flood-prone areas, and mountainous terrain.
Light to Moderate Winds, Slight to Moderate Seas
Across Mindanao, light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast to southwest will prevail. Coastal waters throughout the island are expected to remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters, making sea travel generally manageable. However, PAGASA advised small fishing vessels and other small sea craft to remain cautious whenever thunderstorms develop over coastal waters.

The forecast indicates warm daytime conditions throughout the island, with maximum temperatures generally ranging from 29°C to 33°C.

PAGASA reminded the public that although much of Mindanao will experience generally fair weather with sunny intervals, localized thunderstorms can develop rapidly, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours, bringing heavy rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds over affected areas.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution during periods of reduced visibility caused by heavy rain, while residents living near rivers, creeks, and landslide-prone slopes should closely monitor weather updates and heed advisories from local disaster risk reduction and management offices.
The latest regional weather forecast remains valid from 5:00 a.m. on July 20 until 5:00 a.m. on July 21, 2026, with PAGASA continuing to monitor the influence of the Southwest Monsoon and localized thunderstorm activity across Mindanao.
