CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Residents across Mindanao should expect another day of generally fair weather interrupted by isolated rainshowers and localized thunderstorms, according to the latest regional weather forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)-Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD).

In its 5:00 a.m. weather bulletin issued on Wednesday, July 15, PAGASA said Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or localized thunderstorms until 5:00 a.m. Thursday.

While most areas are expected to enjoy extended periods of sunshine, weather authorities cautioned that localized thunderstorms developing during the afternoon or evening may trigger heavy downpours capable of causing flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying, flood-prone, and mountainous communities.

PAGASA advised residents to remain vigilant as thunderstorms may develop rapidly despite generally fair weather conditions.

Across the island, light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast to south will prevail, while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters, making sea conditions generally favorable for small fishing vessels and other marine activities. However, mariners are still urged to monitor weather updates before heading out to sea, especially when thunderstorms are present.

Zamboanga Peninsula

The entire Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period.

Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 31°C and 33°C, while nighttime and early morning temperatures may drop to 24°C to 27°C.

Northern Mindanao

Similar weather conditions are expected over Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, where partly cloudy skies will occasionally become cloudy due to localized rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Bukidnon will register one of the coolest temperatures in the region, with lows reaching 18°C, while Lanao del Norte could experience one of the warmest afternoon temperatures at 35°C.

Davao Region

Residents in Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental can also expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions accompanied by isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Maximum temperatures across the region are forecast to range from 32°C to 33°C, while minimum temperatures will be between 23°C and 26°C.

SOCCSKSARGEN

The provinces of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will likewise experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Among these provinces, Sultan Kudarat may experience relatively cloudier conditions early in the forecast period before transitioning to the prevailing weather pattern affecting the rest of Mindanao.

Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach 32°C to 33°C, while overnight temperatures may fall between 22°C and 24°C.

Caraga Region

Weather conditions across Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands will remain generally fair with occasional rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures across the region are expected to range from 23°C to 33°C, while coastal waters will stay slight to moderate.

BARMM

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Lanao del Sur is forecast to remain the coolest area in the region, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 29°C, while Maguindanao del Sur may see daytime temperatures reaching 34°C.

Public Advisory

Although no widespread weather disturbance is affecting Mindanao, PAGASA emphasized that localized thunderstorms can produce intense rainfall within a short period, increasing the risk of flash floods, landslides, and reduced visibility.

Residents, motorists, farmers, fisherfolk, and local disaster management offices are encouraged to closely monitor official weather bulletins and advisories, especially during the afternoon and evening when thunderstorms are more likely to develop.

PAGASA also reminded the public to remain alert for possible changes in weather conditions and to immediately take precautionary measures whenever severe thunderstorms occur in their respective localities.
