RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Zamboanga del Sur – A 34-year-old man was arrested after authorities recovered an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and a sachet of suspected shabu during the implementation of a court-issued search warrant in Barangay Pasingkalan, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur, on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

The suspect was apprehended after law enforcement operatives served Search Warrant No. 2026-13, resulting in the seizure of a caliber .45 pistol, one magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, and one sachet containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu.

The successful operation was carried out through the joint efforts of the Zamboanga del Sur Police Intelligence Unit (ZSPIU), headed by PMAJ Harry R. Velez, Chief of the Provincial Intelligence Unit, in coordination with personnel from the Ramon Magsaysay Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by PMAJ Jake P. Capitly, and the Zamboanga del Sur 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) under the leadership of PSMS Marvinne L. Ambalit. The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of PLTCOL Homer T. Dumalag, Force Commander.

Following his arrest, the suspect was taken into the custody of the Ramon Magsaysay Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and processing.

Authorities are preparing to file appropriate criminal charges against the suspect for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Police said the operation underscores the continuing efforts of law enforcement agencies to crack down on the illegal possession of firearms and dangerous drugs, emphasizing that intelligence-driven operations and the strict implementation of court-issued warrants remain vital in maintaining peace and public safety in communities across Zamboanga del Sur.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been released pending the filing of formal charges.
