A loan collector of a lending bank was wounded after being shot by unidentified assailants in Barangay Macabiso, Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao del Norte, shortly before 2 p.m. on August 13, 2026.

According to a report from the Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR), the victim was identified as Jeffrey Jalbuna, who was in the area with fellow bank employees to collect payments from clients when the shooting occurred.

Police said the group was carrying out their regular collection activity when two individuals riding a motorcycle suddenly arrived at the area. The back rider reportedly drew a firearm and shot Jalbuna before the suspects immediately fled from the scene.

Jalbuna sustained gunshot wounds to his right hip and left arm. He was promptly taken to a medical facility for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition following the incident.

The shooting has prompted police authorities to conduct an investigation to determine the identities of the assailants and establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Authorities have yet to disclose a possible motive for the shooting. It was also not immediately established whether the victim had received any threats prior to the incident or whether the attack was connected to his work as a loan collector.

Police are expected to gather statements from Jalbuna and his companions, examine the area for possible evidence, and pursue leads that could help identify and locate the suspects.

The incident remains under investigation, and the identities of the alleged gunmen and the circumstances that led to the shooting have yet to be established by authorities.
