ZAMBOANGA CITY — A late-night shooting in Sitio Tabuk, Barangay Bolong claimed the life of one man and left a 15-year-old boy seriously injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on the victims while they were riding a scooter-type motorcycle on Saturday night.

The fatality was identified only by the alias “Dee-Dee,” while the wounded victim was a 15-year-old male. Both were residents of Sitio Pitas in Barangay Bolong.

Initial information gathered by local authorities revealed that the two victims were reportedly traveling home from Barangay Sangali when they reached Sitio Tabuk shortly after 10:00 p.m.

Residents in the area said they were startled by a series of rapid gunshots. Moments later, they rushed outside and discovered the victims lying beside the roadside, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and covered in blood.

Emergency responders immediately transported the teenage victim to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Meanwhile, “Dee-Dee” was declared dead at the scene by responding authorities.

Police have yet to identify the suspects or determine the motive behind the attack. Investigators are currently conducting a thorough investigation, including gathering witness statements, reviewing possible CCTV footage in nearby areas, and collecting ballistic evidence from the crime scene to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Authorities have appealed to anyone with information that could help identify the perpetrators to coordinate with the nearest police station as efforts continue to bring those responsible to justice.

The incident adds to growing concerns over gun-related violence in parts of Zamboanga City, with residents urging authorities to intensify security measures and ensure the swift resolution of the case.
