Heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected to persist across large parts of Mindanao as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of possible flash floods and landslides due to the combined effects of the Southwesterly Windflow and the trough of a tropical depression.

In its Regional Weather Forecast issued at 5:00 a.m. on May 27, 2026, PAGASA-Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) said the Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), SOCCSKSARGEN, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Occidental will continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought by the Southwesterly Windflow.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao, including Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and Caraga Region, will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of the tropical depression affecting the eastern and southern sections of the country.
PAGASA warned residents in low-lying and mountainous areas to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides as moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flooding, overflowing rivers, and soil erosion in vulnerable communities.
The state weather bureau said winds across western Mindanao will remain light to moderate, coming from the southwest to west, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters. The rest of Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds from the northeast to northwest with similarly slight to moderate sea conditions.
Across the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast throughout the day. Temperatures in the region are expected to range between 24°C and 32°C.
In Northern Mindanao, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental are also expected to experience cloudy conditions with intermittent rains and thunderstorms. Temperature ranges are forecast between 20°C and 32°C.
The Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, will likewise continue to experience unstable weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures may reach as high as 34°C in some areas, particularly in Davao del Norte and North Cotabato.
In SOCCSKSARGEN, provinces such as North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani are expected to remain under cloudy skies with occasional moderate to heavy rainfall. Temperatures in the region will range from 23°C to 34°C.
The Caraga Region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, will also continue to experience widespread rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the tropical depression. Forecast temperatures in the region will range from 24°C to 34°C.
Areas under BARMM, including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, are also expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period. Temperatures in the region may range from 24°C to 33°C.
PAGASA advised fisherfolk and small sea vessels to exercise caution while venturing into the seas due to unstable weather and moderate coastal conditions. Residents are likewise encouraged to monitor the latest weather bulletins and coordinate with local disaster risk reduction offices for possible advisories and emergency measures.
The weather forecast remains valid from 5:00 a.m. on May 27 until 5:00 a.m. on May 28, 2026.
