GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Three separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted by units of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO), with one operation coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office XII (PDEA RO XII), resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the recovery of approximately 18.43 grams of suspected shabu in different barangays of General Santos City on August 30, 2026.

The operations, carried out by Police Stations 7, 2, and 4 of the GSCPO, resulted in the seizure of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride with a combined estimated value of at least ₱125,324, based on the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) values provided by authorities for the first two operations and the Standard Drug Price cited in the third.

The first operation was a buy-bust operation conducted by personnel of Police Station 7 at about 10:51 p.m. in Barangay Fatima. The operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals identified only by their aliases as “Carl,” 39, and “Yani,” 24, both self-employed and residents of General Santos City.

Police said one sachet of suspected shabu was recovered from Yani, while three sachets were recovered from Carl. The four sachets had a combined estimated weight of 2.93 grams, with a reported DDB value of ₱19,924.

The seized drug items were marked and inventoried at the scene in the presence of the required witnesses. Police said the two suspects were informed of their constitutional rights and placed under police custody. The confiscated substances are set to be submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit 12 for laboratory examination.

Almost simultaneously, personnel of Police Station 2, GSCPO, were conducting a checkpoint at the corner of Yusa Ville in Barangay Sinawal at around 10:50 p.m. when they noticed a motorcycle rider identified as alias “Sid,” 52, a fisherman and resident of Barangay Apopong, allegedly traveling without a protective helmet.

According to police, officers signaled Sid to stop for a lawful inspection, but he allegedly ignored the signal and sped away. Police personnel then launched a short hot-pursuit operation and intercepted him.

A search conducted following his arrest allegedly resulted in the recovery of two sachets containing approximately 10 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated DDB value of ₱68,000.

Sid was arrested for alleged violations of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, concerning resistance and disobedience to a person in authority or his agents, and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He remains under the custody of Police Station 2, GSCPO, for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, Police Station 4, GSCPO, in coordination with PDEA RO XII, carried out a search warrant operation in Barangay San Isidro on August 30.

The operation, led by Police Station 4 personnel with assistance from the SWAT-GSCPO, resulted in the arrest of alias “Mikoy,” 47, and the recovery of approximately 5.5 grams of suspected shabu.

Authorities placed the estimated value of the confiscated substance at ₱37,400 based on the Standard Drug Price. The seized substance was turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 12 for laboratory examination.

A case for alleged violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 is being prepared against Mikoy for filing through inquest proceedings.

Taken together, the three operations underscore the continuing anti-drug enforcement activities of the GSCPO and its coordination with other law enforcement agencies across General Santos City. Authorities, however, emphasized that the seized substances remain suspected illegal drugs pending laboratory examination, while the arrested individuals will undergo the appropriate legal proceedings.
