DAVAO CITY — Police are conducting an intensified manhunt for a father and his twin sons who allegedly assaulted and fatally stabbed a 32-year-old man in Purok 23, Isla Suerte, Times Beach, Barangay 76-A on the evening of December 28, 2025.
Authorities identified the victim as Norberto Taniza Policarpio, a resident of the area, who was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. John Quincy Lastimosa.
The suspects were named as Jober Pedraverde Lagumbay, 52, and his twin sons Jhonrey and Jun Jose Cano Lagumbay, all of legal age and reportedly renting a house near the crime scene.
Initial investigation by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) revealed that the confrontation stemmed from a heated altercation that quickly escalated to violence. Based on witness accounts, one of the suspects restrained Policarpio while the others repeatedly stabbed him using a broken saw and a knife, striking various parts of his body including his head.
Police recovered from the scene a kitchen knife and a bread knife, both stained with blood, believed to have been used in the attack.
Authorities have yet to determine the root cause of the dispute. Meanwhile, hot pursuit operations are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspects.
The DCPO assured the public that a deeper investigation is underway to ensure justice for the victim and his family.
