Mindanao residents are advised to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides as the trough of Tropical Storm Kalmaegi, which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), continues to influence the region’s weather.

As of 3:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm Kalmaegi was located 1,230 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas (10.7°N, 136.1°E), with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts reaching up to 105 kilometers per hour. The storm is moving west-northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour.

Cloudy and Rainy Conditions Expected in Dinagat Islands

Dinagat Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought by the trough of Kalmaegi. Residents are urged to stay vigilant for possible flash floods or landslides during heavy downpours.

The rest of Mindanao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized convection. These may bring brief but intense rain and thunder in the afternoon or evening.

Winds and Sea Conditions

Moderate winds from the northeast to northwest prevail over the eastern sections of Mindanao, resulting in moderate seas ranging from 1.5 to 2.1 meters. Elsewhere, light to moderate winds will prevail with slight to moderate seas between 0.6 and 1.8 meters.
PAGASA advises small fishing vessels and those operating in open seas to take precautionary measures, especially along the eastern coastline.

Regional Conditions

Across the island, varying weather patterns are expected throughout the day and night:

  • Zamboanga Peninsula (Zamboanga del Norte, del Sur, Sibugay, Isabela City, and Zamboanga City) – Generally fair weather with partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies. Intermittent rain showers or thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon or evening. Temperatures range from 24°C to 33°C.
  • Northern Mindanao (Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental) – Partly cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms. Coastal waters remain slight to moderate. Daytime temperatures may reach up to 31°C.

  • SOCCSKSARGEN (North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani) – Fair weather conditions expected in the morning, with possible localized thunderstorms later in the day. Slight to moderate seas, with temperatures between 23°C and 32°C.

  • Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) – Fair weather conditions across provinces including Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Cotabato City. Partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms and temperatures from 22°C to 32°C.

PAGASA’s Reminder

While Tropical Storm Kalmaegi remains outside PAR and poses no direct threat to the country at this time, its trough will continue to influence weather patterns over eastern Mindanao and nearby areas.
PAGASA forecasters caution the public to remain alert for sudden heavy rainfall that may trigger flooding or landslides, especially in flood-prone and mountainous areas.

The regional weather forecast is valid from 5:00 a.m. today until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow (November 3, 2025).
