Mindanao — The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to affect the entire Mindanao region this Saturday, October 25, 2025, bringing cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms throughout the day and night, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.

According to the 5:00 a.m. regional forecast issued by the Mindanao PAGASA Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) based in El Salvador City, the ITCZ will trigger moderate to at times heavy rains over many parts of the island, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas.

Weather Conditions Across Mindanao

All major regions—including Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)—are expected to experience similar weather patterns characterized by cloudy skies with intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the day and evening.

Zamboanga Peninsula

Zamboanga City, along with the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, del Sur, and Sibugay, will have cloudy skies with frequent rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the ITCZ. Coastal waters will be slight to moderate, with wind speeds ranging from light to moderate coming from the northwest to southwest. Daytime temperatures will range from 24°C to 32°C.

Northern Mindanao

The provinces of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental are likewise forecasted to experience cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms. Winds will come from the northeast to southeast with slight to moderate seas (0.6–1.8 meters). Temperatures will range between 22°C and 32°C.

Davao Region

Cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail in Metro Davao and the provinces of Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental. Winds will be light to moderate from northeast to southeast with calm to moderate coastal waters. Temperatures will hover from 23°C to 33°C, with slightly cooler evening temperatures expected.

SOCCSKSARGEN

North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will experience cloudy skies with intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms. PAGASA advises residents to remain alert for possible flooding in flood-prone areas and sudden river swelling. Winds will be light to moderate, and seas will be generally slight to moderate. Temperatures are expected to range from 24°C to 32°C.

Caraga Region

Agusan del Norte and Sur, Surigao del Norte and Sur, and Dinagat Islands will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. The same wind and sea conditions are expected, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 33°C.

Bangsamoro Region (BARMM)

Widespread cloudiness with rain showers and thunderstorms will dominate Maguindanao del Norte and del Sur, Lanao del Sur, Cotabato City, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. Winds from the northeast to southeast will bring slight to moderate seas. Temperatures will generally range between 22°C and 33°C.

Public Advisory

PAGASA reminds residents, especially those living near rivers, creeks, and mountain slopes, to remain vigilant for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rains. Fisherfolk and those with small sea vessels are also advised to take caution when venturing out to sea as occasional strong winds and moderate waves may occur during thunderstorms.

Outlook

The ITCZ is expected to persist over Mindanao in the coming days, maintaining the pattern of afternoon and evening thunderstorms. PAGASA will continue to monitor weather developments closely and issue updates as needed.
