Mindanao – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned Tuesday afternoon that Typhoon “Gorio” (international name Podul) continues to move westward at 25 km/h, bringing scattered rain and thunderstorms to parts of Mindanao, particularly the Zamboanga Peninsula, while the rest of the island experiences partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.
As of 3:00 a.m. today, the typhoon’s center was located 755 km east of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 150 km/h. Although it is far from Mindanao, its circulation is enhancing the southwest monsoon, bringing rain to western parts of the region.
