MISAMIS ORIENTAL, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported early Saturday that Tropical Storm “Isang” continues to affect weather conditions across parts of Mindanao.

As of 3:00 a.m., the storm’s center was located 270 kilometers west of Bacnotan, La Union, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph. It is moving westward at 25 kph.

PAGASA said that the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) associated with the storm will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental. Residents in these areas are warned of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. Severe thunderstorms may still cause flash floods or landslides.

Seas across most of the region are forecast to be slight to moderate, ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters. Winds will generally be light to moderate from the west to northwest.
