CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – August 22, 2025 — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of possible flash floods and landslides as the Southwest Monsoon, enhanced by a Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Aurora province, continues to affect large parts of Mindanao.
As of 3:00 p.m. yesterday, the LPA was spotted 435 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora. While it remains less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone, its interaction with the monsoon is expected to bring cloudy skies, scattered rainshowers, and thunderstorms to the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Occidental.
PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains may trigger floods and landslides in these areas. The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening.
