July 17, 2025 — Mindanao | The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued an updated regional weather forecast early Thursday morning, warning residents in several Mindanao provinces to brace for moderate to heavy rains brought by Tropical Depression “Crising” and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
As of 3:00 AM, TD Crising was located 530 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon (13.0°N, 128.9°E), packing maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h and gusts of up to 70 km/h. It is moving west-northwest at 15 km/h.
Areas Under Threat
PAGASA said that the Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms directly due to Crising, with possible flash floods and landslides in flood-prone and mountainous areas.
Meanwhile, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Caraga are expected to have widespread rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. The rest of Mindanao, including parts of the Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and BARMM, will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Moderate winds coming from the southwest to west will prevail throughout the island, with coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate (1.2 to 2.5 meters).
