Mindanao – July 28, 2025 — Residents across Mindanao are advised to brace for isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms throughout the day as the southwest monsoon continues to affect the region, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its regional weather forecast issued at 5:00 AM today, PAGASA reported that all provinces in Mindanao will generally experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of localized rainshowers or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. Winds will be light to moderate, coming from the south to southwest, with slight to moderate seas (0.6 to 2.1 meters).

Zamboanga Peninsula

  • Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures range from 24°C to 33°C, with coastal waters remaining slight to moderate.

Northern Mindanao

  • In Bukidnon, temperatures will range from 20°C to 29°C.
  • Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, and Lanao del Norte can expect highs of up to 35°C, along with isolated thunderstorms.
  • Coastal areas will see slight to moderate sea conditions.

Davao Region

  • Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental are forecasted to experience warm temperatures peaking at 35°C, with intermittent showers expected throughout the day and night.
  • Sea conditions will remain safe for most small boats, though occasional rain may cause reduced visibility.

SOCCSKSARGEN

  • The provinces of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will have partly cloudy conditions, with rainshowers likely in the afternoon or evening.
  • Temperatures range from 23°C to 34°C, and coastal waters are forecasted to be slightly to moderately rough.

Caraga Region

  • Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands will share the same weather pattern: partly cloudy skies turning rainy in parts, with temperatures climbing to 35°C.
  • Seas will remain manageable, but mariners are advised to be cautious during thunderstorms.

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)

  • In Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the forecast indicates mostly dry mornings transitioning to rain-laden afternoons and evenings.
  • Temperatures in the region will hover between 22°C to 34°C, with calm to moderate sea conditions expected.

PAGASA forecaster EBZ reminded the public to stay alert for sudden weather changes, particularly thunderstorms, which could bring strong winds, lightning, and possible flash floods in low-lying areas.
