NAGA, Zamboanga Sibugay – Law enforcement authorities successfully carried out an intelligence-driven buy-bust operation in Purok 1, Barangay Baga, on March 8, 2025. The operation led to the arrest of an adult male suspect and the confiscation of illegal drugs valued at Php6,800.00, along with a fragmentation grenade.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Naga Municipal Police Station (Naga MPS). Meanwhile, the suspected shabu was turned over to the Provincial Forensic Unit for quantitative and qualitative examination to confirm its composition and weight. The recovered fragmentation grenade was transferred to the Provincial Explosives Canine Unit-EODT Sibugay for proper disposal to ensure public safety.
The Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office (ZSBPPO) reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining public security, particularly in light of the upcoming 2025 elections. PCOL Barnard Danie V. Dasugo, Provincial Director of ZSBPPO, emphasized the significance of the operation in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs and criminal activities.
“This successful operation underscores our relentless efforts to combat illegal drugs and ensure a secure environment for our community, especially as we approach the upcoming elections. We remain dedicated to upholding the law and safeguarding the peace and well-being of Zamboanga Sibugay,” PCOL Dasugo stated.
Authorities continue to intensify anti-crime operations to dismantle illegal drug networks and eliminate potential threats to public safety. The recent buy-bust operation serves as a strong warning against criminal elements operating in the region.
