ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY — A joint law enforcement operation on October 10, 2025, in Brgy. Baluno, Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay, resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs, a firearm, and ammunition, underscoring the government’s relentless campaign against criminality and illegal narcotics in the region.

The successful raid was carried out by the Charlie Company, 106th Infantry Battalion (IB) under 2LT Algeon R. Caranguian (INF) PA, in coordination with the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) Zamboanga Sibugay led by PMAJ Brent Ian S. Salazar (FC). They were joined by operatives from the Regional Intelligence Division (RA Sibugay), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) Sibugay, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), and Regional Intelligence Unit 9 ZSBPIT, acting on actionable intelligence from confidential informant “Eagle.”

Armed with Search Warrant No. 307 for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Search Warrant No. 308 for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), the joint team raided a target residence in Purok 4, Barangay Baluno, where they confiscated:

  • Two (2) large transparent heat-sealed sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu
  • One (1) caliber .45 pistol (1911 US Army model) without serial number
  • Twenty-one (21) live rounds of ammunition
  • Three (3) magazines
  • Various drug paraphernalia, including digital weighing scales and improvised tooters

Authorities said the seized items were turned over to proper custodial units for documentation and further investigation.

Military and police officials lauded the coordinated effort, stressing that the success of the operation demonstrates the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) and Philippine National Police’s (PNP) firm partnership in maintaining law and order.

“This operation is proof of our unyielding commitment to support law enforcement efforts in curbing the spread of illegal drugs and firearms that threaten community safety,” the AFP said in a statement.

Security forces reaffirmed their dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that Zamboanga Sibugay remains a safe environment conducive to peace and sustainable development.
