A significant anti-drug operation carried out jointly by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Lanao del Sur Provincial Office and the Philippine National Police (PNP) resulted in the arrest of two high-value targets and the seizure of a substantial volume of illegal drugs in Barangay Poblacion, Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur, on January 14, 2025.

The buy-bust operation led to the confiscation of one orange tea bag with Chinese markings and Alishan Jin Xuan tea branding. Inside, authorities found a knot-tied transparent plastic bag containing shabu weighing approximately 500 grams, with an estimated street value of ₱3,400,000. Other items recovered included buy-bust money, identification cards, a mobile phone, and a Kawasaki Baja motorcycle.

The arrested individuals, identified as “Alyas Papad” and “Alyas Adina,” are now detained at the PDEA BARMM Jail Facility, awaiting inquest proceedings for violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Investigations revealed that the suspects were actively operating illegal drug businesses in nearby towns in Lanao del Sur and Marawi City. The arrests were made possible through a meticulously planned entrapment operation involving the 45th Special Action Force, 4th Special Action Battalion, PNP Special Action Force, and PDEA Lanao del Sur Drug Enforcement Officers.

This operation underscores the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating the illegal drug trade in Lanao del Sur. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help build a safer, drug-free community.
