In a momentous event held at the Sulu Area Coordinating Center, Governor Abdusakur M. Tan, together with Vice Governor Abdusakur A. Tan II, Mayor Nivocadnizar Tulawie, 1101st Brigade Commander BGen Mario Jacinto, and PltCol Benjamin Usman, stood as key witnesses to a peace-building agreement addressing a longstanding dispute in Talipao, Sulu.

The historic covenant brought together two opposing parties in a symbolic gesture of reconciliation and unity. Governor Tan, in his address, lauded the unwavering commitment of the community and stakeholders in sustaining the peace now shared by all. “This milestone marks a significant chapter in Sulu’s historical journey and serves as a legacy for future generations,” the governor emphasized. He also commended the commendable efforts of both parties in setting aside differences, resolving misunderstandings, and fostering harmony, peace, and reconciliation.
Governor Tan further extended his gratitude to the security sectors and local government units for their continued dedication to maintaining progress and stability in Sulu. “Their efforts are invaluable in ensuring that peace initiatives translate into sustainable development for our people,” he added.
The event highlighted the concerted efforts of the local government and security forces in promoting peace, harmony, and sustainable development across the province. Through the signing of the covenant of understanding, proactive measures were implemented to prevent future conflicts, rebuild trust, and strengthen relationships among the involved parties.
The agreement ceremony was attended by prominent political leaders, personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), as well as representatives from the disputing parties. Their presence underscored the collective celebration of this significant moment of peaceful reconciliation and mutual understanding.
