A buy-bust operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (CDEU-COCPO) has led to the arrest of a high-value individual (HVI) and the confiscation of suspected shabu worth PHP 448,800.00 in Zone 10, Upper Carmen, this city.
The suspect, identified as alias “Rose,” 31, a resident of Zone 10, was apprehended during the operation. Authorities revealed that this was her first offense and that she allegedly sourced illegal drugs from Marawi City, distributing them within the Carmen area of Cagayan de Oro.
Seized during the operation were eight heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 66 grams, a digital weighing scale, a mobile phone, a PHP 500 bill used as buy-bust money, and other drug paraphernalia.
The arrested individual and the confiscated evidence were brought to the CDEU for proper documentation and disposition. Charges for violating Sections 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the suspect.
PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO 10), commended the operatives for their diligence and determination in combating illegal drug activities in Northern Mindanao.
“PRO 10 continuously intensifies its efforts to eliminate the illegal drug trade in Northern Mindanao. I commend the operatives for their diligence and dedication to duty, ensuring that communities remain safe and drug-free. To those engaged in illegal drug activities, let this serve as a warning—our campaign against illegal drugs will be sustained, and the law will be enforced to its fullest extent,” PBGEN De Guzman said.
This operation underscores the unwavering commitment of law enforcement agencies in the region to eradicating illegal drugs and ensuring public safety. Further investigations are ongoing to determine potential links to larger drug networks.
