CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Authorities seized an estimated Php340,000 worth of illegal drugs and arrested two individuals in a buy-bust operation conducted on November 14, 2024, in Barangay Bayabas.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Christian S. Laygo, head of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) Region 10, identified the suspects as “Abraham,” 38, and “John,” 47, both residents of the area.
In the operation, officers from RPDEU 10, in collaboration with CDO Police Station 4’s Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Intelligence Division 10, Regional Intelligence Unit 10, and PNP Drug Enforcement Group 10, confiscated six packets of suspected shabu weighing around 50 grams with a street value of Php340,000. They also recovered a packet of marijuana, a sling bag, a motorcycle, and a Php1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.
The suspects are facing charges under Section 5 and Section 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
Police Brigadier General Jaysen C. De Guzman, Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10, commended the operating units for the successful operation, stating, “I want to assure the public that our commitment to a drug-free community remains unwavering. PRO 10 will relentlessly pursue individuals involved in illegal drugs, especially those who continue to endanger our communities.”
