Two High-Value Drug Suspects Arrested in Siargao Island Buy-Bust Operation

General Luna, Surigao del Norte – November 19, 2024

In a coordinated effort to combat illegal drug activities, police operatives from the General Luna and Dapa Municipal Police Stations apprehended two high-value drug suspects during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion 2, General Luna, Siargao Island.

The operation, conducted at around 9:00 PM, led to the arrest of a 45-year-old married man and a 35-year-old single man, both residents of Barangay 6, Poblacion, Dapa, Surigao del Norte. Both suspects were caught selling illegal drugs, violating Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities confiscated eight small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu. The total weight of the seized drugs was approximately 27.52 grams, with a Standard Drug Price value of ₱187,136. Other confiscated items included one genuine ₱1,000 bill used as marked money, a roll of aluminum foil, and assorted drug paraphernalia stored in a small white box.

PCOL Nilo T. Texon, Officer-in-Charge of the Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office, commended the operatives for their swift action. “I commend the General Luna and Dapa Municipal Police Stations for their unwavering efforts in arresting these drug peddlers who have been roaming the province and destroying the lives of our community. The Surigao del Norte PNP will not allow illegal drugs to conquer our province. We will continue to intensify our campaign to apprehend these drug dealers and put them behind bars,” he stated.

The arrested suspects and confiscated items are now under the custody of the General Luna Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and further legal proceedings.
