KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — Two alleged drug personalities were arrested after police authorities conducted a buy-bust operation that led to the recovery of approximately 50 grams of suspected shabu valued at around ₱225,000 in Barangay Zone I, Koronadal City, early Sunday morning, September 20, 2026.
Arrested during the operation were alias “Bogart,” 32, and alias “Yusif,” 41, both residents of Koronadal City.
The operation was carried out at approximately 1:45 a.m. by personnel of the Koronadal City Police Station City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and Intelligence Section, in coordination with the South Cotabato Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Police said the operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu. The seized items reportedly included the sachet of suspected illegal drugs allegedly purchased during the buy-bust operation, as well as the marked ₱500 bill used as buy-bust money.
The operation forms part of continuing law-enforcement efforts against the illegal drug trade in Koronadal City and South Cotabato, particularly targeting individuals allegedly involved in the distribution of prohibited drugs.
Following their arrest, the two suspects were informed of their constitutional rights and were placed under police custody for proper processing.
Authorities also secured the recovered items for documentation, examination, and proper disposition in accordance with established procedures.
Police said appropriate complaints are being prepared against the suspects for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Section 5 covers the alleged sale, trading, administration, delivery, distribution, or transportation of dangerous drugs, while Section 11 concerns the possession of dangerous drugs.
The suspects remain entitled to due process, and the allegations against them will have to be established in court.
The seized substance will likewise undergo the required examination and documentation as part of the investigation and prosecution process.
