October 30, 2024 | Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines— In a significant breakthrough against illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU-10) apprehended a drug suspect and seized a substantial amount of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bon-bon, Cagayan de Oro City on October 30. The operation was conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and involved careful coordination and planning.
The suspect, identified as alias “Steph,” is a 44-year-old resident of Delima Street, Barangay Lumbia. Authorities disclosed that she has a history of drug-related arrests, having been previously apprehended three times under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (R.A. No. 9165). Intelligence reports indicate that her drug supply originated from Lanao del Sur, which she allegedly distributed within Cagayan de Oro City and neighboring Misamis Oriental.
During the operation, officers seized 10 sachets of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 300 grams. The confiscated drugs carry an estimated street value of PHP 2,040,000. In addition to the illegal drugs, authorities also confiscated a sling bag, a digital weighing scale, a mobile phone, three improvised drug paraphernalia (tooters), and the PHP 1,000 used as marked buy-bust money.
The suspect is currently held at Police Station 4 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office for further investigation and legal proceedings.
PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Acting Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 10, commended the RPDEU-10 for their successful operation. He assured the public of the police force’s unwavering commitment to eliminating illegal drugs in the region, stating, “We will continue to intensify our operations and work collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies to combat the drug menace that threatens our society. I urge everyone to support us in this effort to attain a safer and drug-free region.”
