CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Police arrested a 47-year-old man identified as a High-Value Individual (HVI) and seized an estimated 250 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱1.7 million during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Indahag on Friday, September 11.
The arrested suspect, identified by police as alias “Odin,” is married and a resident of Cagayan de Oro City. Authorities said he was classified as an HVI in connection with the illegal drug trade.
The operation was conducted at around 2:22 p.m. in the Kamakawan area of Barangay Indahag by personnel of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office’s City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU-COCPO), led by Police Major Aldren Estrada Baculio, Chief of CDEU, with support from the City Mobile Force Company and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 10 (PDEA-10).
Police said the operation resulted in the recovery of one sachet used as the buy-bust item and eight additional sachets containing suspected shabu allegedly in the suspect’s possession. The combined weight of the seized substance was placed at approximately 250 grams, with authorities estimating its street value at ₱1.7 million.
Aside from the suspected illegal drugs, operatives also recovered a digital weighing scale, a cellphone, a sling bag, a wallet, cash, a driver’s license and a minivan, among other items.
The confiscated substances and other pieces of evidence were placed under police custody for proper documentation and disposition. The arresting team is expected to proceed with the appropriate legal process, including the filing of charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The suspect remains in the custody of the CDEU-COCPO pending the appropriate disposition of the case.
The allegations against the suspect remain subject to court proceedings, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
