Sarangani, Philippines — On October 10, 2024, Sarangani Police Provincial Office (SPPO) under the supervision of Police Colonel Deanry R. Francisco, successfully apprehended a Street Level Individual (SLI) involved in illegal drug activities during a buy-bust operation in Purok 6, Barangay Colon, Maasim, Sarangani Province.
The coordinated operation involved joint efforts from the Maasim Municipal Police Station (MPS), Sarangani Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 12 Tracker Team Alpha, Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) 12, and the 1204th Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 12, in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-XII Sarangani. Media representatives and an elected official of Barangay Colon were present as insulating witnesses to ensure transparency during the operation.
The suspect, identified as alias John, 29, a resident of Purok 6, Barangay Colon, was apprehended with the following items in his possession:
- One small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu (buy-bust item)
- Two additional heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu (possession items)
- One five-hundred-peso bill with serial number HX685064 (marked money)
The confiscated items, totaling approximately 6.2 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of Php 42,160.00, have been submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit (RFU) 12 for laboratory examination.
Alias John was informed of his constitutional rights in a language he understands and subsequently underwent a medical examination. Charges for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act 9165 are being prepared for filing before the office of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Alabel, Sarangani Province.
The successful operation underscores the ongoing commitment of the Sarangani Police Provincial Office to combat illegal drug activities and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
