COTABATO — A joint police operation in Arakan, Cotabato, resulted in the recovery of several firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and other gun-related equipment during the implementation of a search warrant on November 5, 2026.

The operation was carried out by personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) North Cotabato Provincial Field Unit (PFU), in coordination with the Arakan Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the 1st Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company (CPMFC).
Authorities implemented Search Warrant No. SW KID 1112-2026 against a farmer residing in Purok Mahayahay, Barangay Doroluman, Arakan, Cotabato. The search led to the recovery of four firearms, eight long magazines for an M16 rifle, and 280 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.
The recovered firearms consisted of one .45-caliber pistol, two homemade 12-gauge shotguns, and one .38-caliber revolver.
Police also seized two steel magazines for a .45-caliber pistol, 18 rounds of .45-caliber ammunition, and two pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) airguns equipped with scopes and suppressors. Other items recovered included one tactical bandolier and two gun holsters.
The presence of multiple firearms, ammunition, and related equipment prompted their recovery as part of the continuing law enforcement campaign against the proliferation of unlicensed firearms in local communities.
According to authorities, the search was conducted in an orderly manner and witnessed by the subject’s mother and barangay officials. Police also confirmed that body-worn cameras and alternative recording devices were properly utilized during the operation to document the implementation of the warrant.
Cotabato Police Provincial Office Provincial Director PCOL Ramel B. Hojilla underscored the importance of sustained enforcement operations in preventing the circulation of unauthorized firearms and ammunition.
“We will continue to intensify our operations to prevent the proliferation of firearms and maintain the safety of our communities,” Hojilla said.
The operation forms part of the Cotabato Police Provincial Office’s broader efforts to strengthen public safety and address the presence of unlicensed firearms, which authorities consider a potential threat to peace and security.
The circumstances surrounding the possession of the recovered firearms and ammunition, as well as any possible legal action against the subject, were not detailed in the initial police report.
