Koronadal City, South Cotabato — Two members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to the authorities at the 1st South Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company (SCPMFC) Headquarters on October 10, 2024. The headquarters is located along Aurora Street in Barangay Zone IV, Koronadal City.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Rey D. Egos, Force Commander of the 1st SCPMFC, identified the surrenderers as “Ka Jar-ar,” a 23-year-old resident of Barangay Bacong, Tulunan, North Cotabato, who was a former member of the Guerilla Front ALIP under the Far Southern Mindanao Region. The second individual, “Ka Vincent,” 38 years old and a resident of Barangay Concepcion, Makilala, North Cotabato, was a former member of the SYP Platoon of Guerilla Front ALIP.
The surrender was a result of the combined efforts of the 1st and 2nd SCPMFCs, the South Cotabato Provincial Intelligence Unit, the TTC Regional Intelligence Division 12, the Regional Special Operations Group 12, the Koronadal City Police Station, and the cooperation of local government units and officials from Barangay Topland in Koronadal City.
One of the surrenderers also handed over a firearm to authorities during the process. The police quickly provided financial assistance and a sack of rice to the former rebels, who are now in the custody of the 1st SCPMFC for debriefing and proper disposition.
Police Regional Office 12 Director, Police Brigadier General James E. Gulmatico, urged remaining members of the CTG to surrender to authorities and avail themselves of the benefits offered under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which provides support for former rebels reintegrating into society.
The surrender of these CTG members is seen as a positive step toward promoting peace and stability in the region.
