Php 476K Worth of Shabu Seized; High-Value Individual Arrested in CDO Drug Bust

Cagayan de Oro City — A high-value individual (HVI) was arrested by the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) during a successful buy-bust operation on October 12, 2024, in Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.

The suspect, identified as alias “Kulot,” 51 years old, and a resident of San Isidro, Barangay Lapasan, was caught in possession of seven heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The seized drugs weighed 70 grams, with an estimated street value of Php 476,000.

In addition to the drugs, authorities confiscated a .38 caliber revolver loaded with three live rounds, a sling bag, and a Php 1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.

Records show that this is not the first time “Kulot” has faced drug-related charges. He was previously arrested in 2016 for violating Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspect is now in the custody of the Maharlika Detention Cell for proper documentation and legal proceedings.

PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Acting Regional Director of the Philippine National Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), commended the operatives for their dedication. “This should serve as a warning to those involved in the illegal drug trade that PRO10 remains relentless in its mission to protect the welfare of the people in Northern Mindanao. We urge the public to stay vigilant and continue supporting our efforts,” De Guzman said.

PRO10 remains committed to intensifying its anti-drug operations and encourages the public to report any suspicious activities in their communities.
