General Santos City—In a coordinated effort, operatives from Police Station 6 (PS6), City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and Police Station 10 successfully apprehended the suspect behind a fatal shooting incident that claimed the lives of a live-in couple in Barangay Lagao, General Santos City.
The suspect, identified as Jimrod Flores Mariano, a resident of Purok Carmenville, Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City, was arrested earlier this morning at around 10:00 AM at his residence. The arrest came as part of a joint hot-pursuit operation following the shooting of Larry Rayco, a tricycle driver, and his partner April Sta. Ana, both of legal age and residents of Purok 13, Carcon Village, Barangay Lagao. The couple was shot and killed in their home around 2:00 AM earlier today.
During the operation, police also arrested Mariano’s wife, identified only as Alias Joy, for alleged obstruction of justice.
Authorities recovered several items from Mariano’s possession, including three fired cartridge cases suspected to be from a caliber .40 firearm, three live bullets of the same caliber, two sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine), two Android cellphones, a black sling bag, and a yellow full-face helmet.
Both suspects are currently in the custody of Police Station 6, awaiting the proper legal procedures.
The fatal shooting of Rayco and Sta. Ana shocked the local community, and investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack.
