The number of African Swine Fever (ASF) cases in Cotabato Province continues to rise, based on the latest report from the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPVet) on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
According to the data, nine more barangays have reported ASF infections. These include Barangay Sangat in Mlang, Barangay Malanduage in Kabacan, Barangay Kiloyao and Sinapangan in Libungan, Barangay Birada and Balindog in Kidapawan, Barangay Dungos in Tulunan, and Barangays Taculen and Kilada in Matalam.
The municipality of Midsayap leads with the highest number of cases at 27, followed by Pigcawayan with 22, Kidapawan City with 19, Makilala with 16, Antipas and Matalam with 13, President Roxas with 12, Libungan and M’lang with nine each, Kabacan and Tulunan with six, Magpet with five, Arakan with four, and Alamada, Aleosan, and Pikit with one case each.
As of this latest update, a total of 164 barangays in Cotabato Province have been affected by the ASF outbreak. Local authorities and the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian continue to monitor and implement containment measures to control the spread of the virus and safeguard the province’s swine industry.
