Camp Gallego, Tubod, Lanao del Norte — In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activities, authorities in Tubod, Lanao del Norte successfully arrested a high-value target during an anti-drug operation on September 21, 2024. The operation was carried out by personnel from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office (LDN PPO), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 10.
The suspect, a 32-year-old male resident of Purok 1, Barangay Malingao, Tubod, is listed as the Number 8 Regional Priority Target. The arrest was made possible through a search warrant (Search Warrant No. 135-07-2024) issued by Hon. Richie Gay T. Mendoza, Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 07, Tubod, on September 12, 2024.
During the search of the suspect’s residence, authorities seized several pieces of evidence, including:
- One unsealed transparent plastic sachet
- Fifteen heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, with a total weight of 0.850 grams and an estimated street value of Php 5,780.00
- One rectangular transparent plastic container
The suspect and the confiscated items were taken to Tubod Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and further investigation. Charges for violating Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing in court.
Provincial Director of LDN PPO, PCOL Roy A. Magsalay, commended the personnel involved in the operation, stating, “This operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat the illegal drug trade and uphold the rule of law. The collaboration among different units demonstrates the effectiveness of joint efforts in addressing the challenges posed by illegal activities in our communities.”
The successful arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to dismantle illegal drug operations and reduce criminal activities in Lanao del Norte.
