Jose Dalman, Zamboanga del Norte, came alive with a series of environmentally-focused initiatives from November 18–22, as the community commemorated National Climate Change Consciousness Week under the theme “Aksyon at Adaptasyon ng Makabagong Henerasyon.” The week-long observance highlighted the importance of collective action and adaptive strategies in addressing the pressing challenges of climate change.
The centerpiece of the celebration was a tree-planting activity held on November 20 in Barangay Poblacion, Jose Dalman. A total of 250 Narra (𝘗𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘴) seedlings were planted to combat climate change and support ecological sustainability. The event gathered 67 participants, including personnel from PENRO Zamboanga del Norte led by PENRO Cidur S. Julsadjri, CENRO Manukan headed by OIC-CENRO Eugene S. Celi, MENRO Jose Dalman under OIC-MENRO Bob D. Pagente, the Bureau of Fire Protection Jose Dalman, and local barangay officials.
Participants emphasized the importance of collaboration in safeguarding the environment and encouraged communities to play an active role in preserving natural resources for future generations.
Earlier in the week, activities organized by CENRO Manukan kicked off on November 18 with a flag-raising ceremony, the hanging of a streamer, and a Climate Change Quiz for personnel and staff. A One-Stop Shop, held on November 19–20, provided environmental services and guidance to local government units on departmental procedures for permits and applications.
To further engage the youth, an environmental lecture was held on November 21 at Tulip Day Care Center in Poblacion, Manukan. The session educated children on conservation, biodiversity, and proper waste management, fostering awareness and responsibility among the younger generation.
The week concluded with a coastal clean-up on November 22 in East Poblacion, Jose Dalman. This initiative brought together local stakeholders to protect marine ecosystems and promote sustainable coastal resource management.
Through these activities, Jose Dalman demonstrated a united commitment to tackling climate change and promoting ecological sustainability. By fostering community involvement and emphasizing the value of environmental stewardship, the event left a lasting impact and a call to action for all generations to contribute to a greener, more resilient future.
