GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Police operations in General Santos City resulted in the arrest of two men and the confiscation of suspected illegal drugs, a .45-caliber pistol, and ammunition in separate incidents on October 16 and 17, 2026, with the combined estimated value of the seized suspected shabu reaching ₱117,776.

The operations, conducted by personnel of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) and other police units under Police Regional Office 12 (PRO-12), involved a checkpoint-initiated hot pursuit operation in Barangay Sinawal and a subsequent buy-bust operation in Barangay City Heights.
In the first incident, personnel of Police Station 2 apprehended a man identified as alias “Borj,” of legal age and a resident of Barangay Labangal, General Santos City, at around 6:30 a.m. on October 16 in Barangay Sinawal.
Police initially flagged down the suspect at a checkpoint along Crossing Litan for allegedly operating a motorcycle without wearing a protective helmet. However, instead of stopping, he reportedly accelerated and fled, prompting officers to launch a hot pursuit operation.
The pursuit ended at Purok Yusaville, where police apprehended the suspect. During the arrest, officers recovered a .45-caliber pistol, a magazine loaded with four rounds of .45-caliber ammunition, and two sachets containing suspected shabu from his gray belt bag.
The suspected illegal drugs weighed approximately seven grams, with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of ₱47,600.
The suspect is facing allegations of violating Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, concerning resistance and disobedience to a person in authority or their agents; Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002; and Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Following his arrest, the suspect was informed of the nature of the charges against him and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood. He was subsequently brought to Dr. Jorge P. Royeca Hospital for medical and physical examination before further custodial procedures.
Hours later, at around 1:41 a.m. on October 17, another police operation led to the arrest of alias “Goliath,” 26, a construction worker and resident of Purok 10 Lanton, Barangay Apopong, General Santos City, during a buy-bust operation at the corner of Aparente and Rosas Streets in Block 5, Dadiangas Heights Subdivision, Barangay City Heights.
The operation was conducted by the City Police Drug Enforcement Unit, in coordination with the City Intelligence Unit and Police Station 4 of the GSCPO, as part of efforts to curb the illegal drug trade in the city.
Authorities recovered one small, heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing approximately 0.10 gram of suspected shabu, which served as the alleged buy-bust item.
During a body search incidental to the suspect’s lawful arrest, police recovered two large-sized and two small-sized rectangular, heat-sealed plastic sachets containing approximately 10.32 grams of suspected shabu. The seized drugs had an estimated value of ₱70,176 based on the National Standard Drug Price.
Other items recovered included a black sling bag, a black leather coin purse, a light blue Vivo cellular phone, ₱726 in cash, and the ₱1,000 buy-bust money used in the operation.
Police said the documentation and body search were conducted in the presence of the required witnesses, including a barangay kagawad of Barangay City Heights and a media representative, in accordance with procedures governing the seizure and documentation of suspected illegal drugs.
The confiscated substances were turned over to the General Santos City Forensic Unit 12 for qualitative and quantitative laboratory examination to determine their identity and actual weight.
Alias “Goliath” is facing complaints for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, covering the illegal sale and possession of dangerous drugs, respectively. Authorities were preparing the complaints for filing through inquest proceedings.
The two operations resulted in the recovery of approximately 17.42 grams of suspected shabu with a combined estimated value of ₱117,776, alongside the confiscation of a .45-caliber pistol and four rounds of ammunition in the first case.
The cases remain subject to the appropriate legal proceedings, and the allegations against both suspects have yet to be resolved by the courts.
