Zamboanga City – Authorities arrested a top regional drug target and three others in a buy-bust operation conducted on November 26, 2024, at around 10:25 PM along Puerto Princesa Drive, Barangay Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City.
The operation was led by joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Zamboanga City Office, Zamboanga City Police Station 11, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9.
Among those apprehended was Rakib Malali y Ismael, also known as Dongoy Malali or Dongs, 32, a motorbike driver and resident of Puerto Princesa Drive. Malali, listed as the third top drug target in the region, was the primary focus of the operation.
Three other suspects were also arrested: Ian Bonghawan y Huminis, 30; Eljes Tantih y Julmaani, 34; and Ula Tantih y Julmaani, 33. All are residents of the same area.
Authorities confiscated approximately 5.05 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), with an estimated street value of PHP 34,340.00, along with the buy-bust money used in the operation.
The suspects are facing charges for violations of Sections 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), and 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) under Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
They are currently detained at the PDEA Zamboanga City Office in Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City, pending further legal proceedings.
Authorities reiterated their resolve to intensify anti-drug operations across the region, particularly targeting high-value personalities and dismantling drug networks.
